Utah Sports Commission Presents Massive Weekend of Skateboarding Featuring SLS Championship Tour and Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert
(Costa Mesa, CA /July 19, 2021) Street League Skateboarding (SLS), the Utah Sports Commission, Tony Hawk Inc., and Vans announced an incredible weekend of skateboarding at the Utah State Fairgrounds, featuring the SLS Championship Tour and “Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert.” Following skateboarding’s Olympic debut in Tokyo, one of the U.S. Olympic homes, Salt Lake City, will host a hand-selected field of the world’s best street and vert skateboarders.
The epic, free to the public, two-day weekend event kicks off at the Utah State Fairgrounds on Friday, August 27th, with the SLS Championship Tour: Salt Lake City preliminary round and culminates on Saturday, August 28th, with the men’s and women’s Finals. Fans can be there live as SLS’ roster of elite skateboarders, including recent Olympians and 6-time SLS Champion Nyjah Huston, battle it out for the top spot and crucial SLS Super Crown Championship points. In partnership with the Utah Sports Commission, Tony Hawk and Vans will debut “Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert” (THVA), which will commence with a “Legends Demo” on the evening of Friday, August 27th, showcasing Tony Hawk and other high-flying vert legends. On Saturday, August 28th, immediately preceding the SLS Championship Tour Finals, a combined field of 20 of the best male and female vert skaters will compete in the inaugural THVA finals featuring the biggest airs and most progressive tricks in vert skateboarding on Hawk’s state-of-the-art vert ramp. Both THVA events are free to the public, with event details and times published on TonyHawk.com and Vans.com.

Entry to the Utah State Fairgrounds and access to both SLS Championship Tour: Salt Lake City and “Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert” will be FREE to the general public on both days. A limited number of VIP tickets for the SLS Championship Tour event will be made available at 10 a.m. (local time) on Monday, July 26th, and can be purchased at StreetLeague.com/Tickets.
